t the start of 2023, Jiangsu Greentec Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. signed a big deal —— the first rotary air duct in the world alteration project of ‘Newcastle’ bulk cargo ship.

‘Newcastle’ bulk cargo ship is a type of large dry bulk cargo ship developed since 2003. The original purpose to design the ship is to enter port of Newcastle in Australia to load coal as more as possible. The ship type was named because of this. ‘Newcastle’ bulk cargo ship not only can increase the transport capacity of single ship, but also can cater to the draft restrictions of ports. It has become a mainstream ship type in large dry bulk cargo ships in the present.

In 2021, a shipowner which is famous in the world sent bids to the world for rotary air duct contract project, to do alteration to its ‘Newcastle’ bulk cargo ships. The project required to use the most advanced wind power technology in the world, install rotary air duct, realize emission reduction. The rotary air duct on ‘Newcastle’ bulk cargo ship in the project is the first case in the world.

In May 2021, the alteration party send bids to cooperative partners in the world. Greentec Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. was the only shortlisted Chinese enterprise.

In the end of last September, when the situation of pandemic was most severe, founder of Greentec Marine Engineering Du Xinwei and his team flew to Singapore, communicated face to face with technical general manager of Singapore office of the shipowner.

‘When we arrived at Singapore, we learnt that the shipowner and our opponent were preparing signing process.’ Du Xinwei said that, face to face communication, not only let the shipowner felt the sincerity of Greentec Marine Engineering, but also had deeper understanding about the technological abilities of Greentec Marine Engineering.

In order to get the order, Greentec Marine Engineering worked hard to fight every ‘major battle’ well, to perform best in every detail. As long as the owner gave suggestions on revision, Greentec Marine Engineering not only replied about adjustment and satisfied requirements, but also could provide more constructive suggestions.

Last October they returned to China and provided plan. In the end of December the intention was confirmed. In January this year the order was signed officially. In the end, from passive to active, Greentec Marine Engineering got the order successfully.
