On 9th January, the largest 24 thousand TEU container ship in the world ‘NACKS 396’, departed from the Nantong section of the Yangtze River for trial voyage. It is the 4th in the series of ships researched, developed, designed and built independently by Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. It is also the first globally largest class container ship which went for trial voyage in 2024.
Ship ‘NACKS 396’ is the largest new generation of ultra-large container ship researched, developed, designed and built independently by Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering. It is also the container ship of the largest TEU which can travel in the Yangtze River channel. The ship is 399.99 m long, and 61.3 m wide. Its load capacity is 24188 TEUs. The deck area is equivalent to 3.5 standard football fields. The oil consumption per container has reached world leading level in ships of the same grade.
