On 27th June, at the site of ‘China in Foreign Voice’ —— ‘A tie of Chinese characters’ Chinese Speech Contest, Paddy from Laos, a student of Jiangsu College and Engineering and Technology, went on the stage first, used what he learnt in classes and his experiences to tell the importance of moral education.
The speech contest invited foreign friends to tell stories of their ties with Chinese characters, to promote Chinese culture and tell the stories of Nantong.
In the contest, 16 players from 5 tertiary vocational schools and relevant enterprises in Nantong elaborated their understandings of ‘Xin’ in different aspects: Deng Zhouying, a Vietnamese player from Nantong Vocational University thought that ‘self-confidence was very important for personal growth and success’, Lin Jiali, an Indonesian from Nantong College of Science and Technology said that ‘trust was expensive’, Zhou Tian, a Moroccan from Nantong University even wrote a letter to China...Even if their Chinese was not very standard, the foreign friends tried to express their opinions in Chinese.
