On 29 July, the 1st batch of Nantong place name cultural heritage list was published officially. In total 11 place names which are Baipu, Rugao, Yuxi, Yudong, Nantong, Bencha, Haimen, Tangzha, Langshan town, Qinzao and Chongchuan were shortlisted. The election was started in the beginning of May and it lasted close to 3 months.

Place name, is the original carrier of historical and cultural information, also the mark and print of development and change of cities. According to the second national place name general investigation, there are more than 40 thousand pieces of place name data in Nantong.
