Ming dynasty water gate relic site and Qing dynasty ancient ship showed their true looks

Stone structure site was inferred as Ming dynasty Ye’s water gate relic site

Ancient ship and some relics which were excavated

A few days ago, archaeological excavation project of hydraulic engineering relic site of Ming and Qing dynasty in Shuidi river area in Chongchuan district passed acceptance of Jiangsu bureau of cultural relics. The acceptance comment said that the water gate stone structure and Qing dynasty ancient ship discovered this time had significant values.

In the archaeological excavation, 1 ancient river channel, 1 stone structure relic site, and 154 pieces (sets) cultural relic specimens were discovered. Among them, there is 1 ancient ship of early Qing dynasty. The ancient ship is 9.9 m long, 3.1 m wide maximum. The cabin is 1.1 m deep. It was inferred as a inland river flat bottom sand cargo ship of early Qing dynasty.

Experts thought that the important archaeological discovery not only provided important solid materials for ancient ship structure and Nantong shipping history research, but also had significant values for promotion of building of national culture park of Nantong section of the Yangtze River.
