few days ago, SCANIA Powertrain project construction opening ceremony was held in Rugao.

SCANIA, a Swedish enterprise, is one of the leading heavy trucks and buses manufacturers in the world.It is honored as the ‘king of the road’. SCANIA China manufacturing plant which settled in Rugao is its third research, development, and manufacturing base in the world. Phase 1 whole car manufacturing project was started in last June. Phase 2 powertrain project covers an area of about 388 mu. It is expected to be completed in 2025. The design annual production capacity is 50 thousand powertrains. Phase 1 and phase 2 projects belong to upstream and downstream links in the industrial train. By then they will go into operation at the same time, thus forming a relatively complete heavy trucks manufacturing chain in Rugao.

Mr. Ruthger de Vries, the chief operating office of SCANIA Asia Industries, introduced that the powertrain project was a new investment project decided carefully by the enterprise based on elements such as automobile market demand and industrial development trends. It expressed the determination of SCANIA to deep plough in Chinese market and continue to accelerate its development. It also showed its preference for the transport location, industrial supporting facilities and business environment of Nantong.

On 8th November, Nantong West Railway Station Avenue phase 2 project opened fully. Rapid access within 20 minutes between the downtown area and Nantong West Railway Station was realized.

West Station Avenue phase 2 starts from Changjiang Road West Extension in the south, and ends at Gangping Road in the north. It uses a rapid scheme of continuous viaduct + ground auxiliary road. It has six lanes in two directions. The design speed is 80 km per hour. The length of the avenue is about 6.42 km.
