On 22nd April, Jiangsu Forestry Bureau published the first batch of 10 best bird watching resorts in Jiangsu. The reporter learnt from the Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning that Nantong Rudong Xiaoyangkou Spoon-billed Sandpiper Wetland Reserve was shortlisted.

Rudong Xiaoyangkou has ample wetland resources. The wide intertidal mudflat nourishes a lot of benthic organisms, which provide ample food resources for rare and endangered birds such as Spoon-billed Sandpiper and Saunders’s Gull. Every migration season, thousands of plover sandpiper water birds came here to rest, eat and moult. In the nearby coastal protection forests, there are always migratory forest birds which pass by, such as Terpsiphone atrocaudata and Blue-and-white Flycatcher. The best bird watching time is from April to May and from September to November every year.
