On 14th October, the 6th Classic Huaiyang Cuisine Overseas Promotion Workshop opened in Nantong, and the Overseas Chinese Cuisine Elite’s Trip to Nantong was also launched. 30 people in charge of overseas catering associations and relevant enterprises from 15 countries and regions such as the United States, Germany, and South Africa gathered in Nantong, communicated and discussed, exchanged culinary skills, learnt about Nantong's food and scenery, and experienced Nantong’s urban culture.
The workshop has four major modules: special lectures, situational teaching, visiting and learning, and teaching of classic Huaiyang cuisine and Nantong cuisine. Apart from attending the lectures delivered by experts, the participants went to renowned restaurants such as Nantong Hotel and Liuqiaowai, to experience innovative Nantong cuisine, Hai’an characteristic river food and Rugao longevity food. They also went to places including Dasheng Cotton Mills, the rare fish breeding base, and the Tatsoi base, to learn to make Nantong classic dishes and characteristic pastries.
