On 7th March, Special Exhibition of Old Summer Palace Bronze Heads and Repatriated Cultural Relics from Overseas (Nantong Station) opened at Nantong Art Museum. In total more than 80 precious cultural relics are exhibited.
The exhibition includes 7 Old Summer Palace Bronze Heads. The 12 Old Summer Palace Bronze Heads, were originally components of the fountain in front of the Haiyan Hall in the Old Summer Palace, a royal garden in the Qing Dynasty. It is a bold attempt to integrate the traditional Chinese zodiac culture with Western culture. The 12 Old Summer Palace Bronze Heads were once scattered overseas due to war. Now 7 Bronze Heads have returned to their motherland. The Old Summer Palace Bronze Heads exhibited in Nantong this time include 4 original cultural relics collected in the Poly Art Museum, which are the Ox, the Tiger, the Monkey and the Pig. The Horse, the Rabbit, and the Rat are replicas of the cultural relics repatriated from overseas.
The exhibition will be held from 7th March to 6th May.
