n 16 March, Nantong downtown area urban planning consultation conference was held. Expert representatives provided methods and suggestions, for the beautiful blueprint of Nantong downtown area.
Shen Lu, Director of No.4 institute of Shanghai municipal planing institute urban planning and design Co., Ltd., suggested that Nantong let ecological net, transport net, innovation net, service net and cultural net integrate deeply, to form a spacial planning vivid blueprint. At the same time, she suggested that municipal space structure shall focus on ‘one core, one belt, one axis, one circle’, build a central core of multiple spacial elements, riverside technological and innovation development belt of great potential, Jianghai integration open axis with both corridor and gate functions and new emerging district development potential circle.
In the present, ‘Nantong Hao Tong’ advantages are more obvious, and have become a new name card of the city’s development. In National Integrated Three Dimensional Transport Network Planning Outline published in February 2021, Nantong is recognized as a national integrated transport hub, and with Shanghai as the core, Nantong together with Suzhou and Jiaxing will build ‘1+3’ international portal hub cluster; in 2035, Nantong will become a national integrated transport hub; in 2050, a international portal transport hub will be built.
‘Hills next to the city, climb to high place and the Yangtze River is there, Nantong riverside area has unique advantages.’ Shen Xuan, deputy director of No.2 planning institute of Shanghai municipal planing institute urban planning and design Co., Ltd., said that in the 43 km area from Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge to Sutong Yangtze River Highway Bridge, a ‘chain of Nantong’ riverside green channel will be built.
Shen Xuan introduced that natural scene, industrial relics, historical relics and folk stories would be integrated, to form ‘1 scroll, 4 figures, 5 avenues, 8 scenes, 24 stations’, and become a spacial carrier to present city’s characters, unique charm, cultural confidence and civil building achievements of Nantong.
