On the afternoon of 27th February, ‘Thai Cuisine Festival’ hosted by Consulate General of Royal Thai in Shanghai and Nantong Foreign Affairs Office and contracted by Le Meridien Nantong opened at the hotel. Through food display and cultural experiences, it provided an authentic Thai food and cultural feast for attending guests.
The food festival focuses on ‘Thai cuisine’. The western cuisine team of the Le Meridien Hotel and Consulate General of Royal Thai in Shanghai invited chefs to cook more than 50 classic Thai cuisine and creative dishes such as green papaya salad, Thai spicy chicken feet, Tom Yum Soup, volcano pork rib soup, and Thai-style warm winter hot pot. ‘Using food as a bond, Thai culture and Nantong culture integrate here. It is the best practice of people-to-people connectivity under the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative.’ Ms. Prinat Apirat, Consul General of Thailand in Shanghai, said.
At the event, the traditional Thai dance troupe presented a captivating Thai cultural performance. The hotel also arranged ‘Thai spice class’. Thai chefs guided the guests to identify special ingredients including lemongrass, galangal, and kaffir lime leaves.
