At about 7:40 pm on 1st February, Nantong cultural tourism struck a pose at the program Home in the Distance on CCTV. Wang Zhi, the director of Nantong Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, visited the live streaming room, participated in the 2024 New Year cultural tourism large-scale broadcast activity ‘In China! Play like this!’, and ‘recommended’ Nantong to netizens over the state full of sincerity. Huang Xu, Nantong gymnastics Olympics champion, recommended his hometown together as a supporting guest.

There are a large number of popular scenic spots including the picturesque Langshan Scenic Spot, Hao River, one of the only four remaining ancient moats in China, Nantong Museum, the earliest public museum in China founded by Mr. Zhang Jian, the first place in the imperial examination in the late Qing Dynasty, Nantong Forest Safari Park, the largest and most popular zoo in East China area, Shuihui Garden, the solitary representative of Hui style architecture, and Qitang City, the largest real scene immersive theme park in the Yangtze River delta. Lesser-known check-in spots such as Nantong Foremost Hat Museum and Henry C. Lee Museum of Forensic Investigation are too numerous to enumerate.

Eating in Nantong, there are ‘four treasures of the south Yellow sea’ which are so ‘savory’ that you can’t stop —— Asian hard clam, Pyropia, eel, razor shell; and intangible cultural heritage food including Baipu Dougan, Xiting Cracker, crab roe bun, grey shrimp sauce...Talking about Nantong delicacies, there are many hometown delicacies which Huang Xu cannot forget. He said, ‘Langshan Chicken, moulding rice cake, and shredded “wild chicken” are all very delicious. Next time when you come you must have a try!’
